Luxembourg, 23 September 2019 - European Air Ambulance expands its fleet European Air Ambulance (EAA) has added a sixth Learjet 45XR to its fleet - fully equipped for take-off on life-saving medical missions worldwide.
The new aircraft – kitted out by EAA to offer the finest and most cost-effective care in the air – was welcomed to the company’s state-of-the-art headquarters at Luxembourg’s Findel airport, where firefighters baptized it with water cannon in time-honoured tradition.
The addition of a sixth LJ45XR follows on from a major investment and renewal project that saw EAA upgrade its five-strong fleet of LJ35As to the larger aircraft, as part of its strategy to increase capacity and service flexibility.
The LJ45XR is ideal for aeromedical missions due to its size, speed and high specification.
Flexibile internal configuration options – which mean EAA can simultaneously transport two intensive care patients, or an incubator and a mother on a stretcher, or a single patient with four family passengers, as well as mission-specific requirements like EAA’s groundbreaking infectious disease module or unique stretcher system for heavier weight patients – make it a highly cost-effective choice for clients.
All six aircraft are dedicated to medical air ambulance services and last year alone, EAA flew 838 missions in 80 countries.
Director of Sales and Marketing, Patrick Schomaker said: “We are delighted to take delivery of our new LJ45XR (registration LX-TWO.)
“It is another step in our ongoing strategy to increase capacity and service flexibility – and continue to improve the service we provide to our clients and the patients in our care.
“All of our aircraft are dedicated to medical flights and are in effect in-transit hospitals, offering a level of service and medical care that is simply not possible on commercial charter transfers.
“The new aircraft will help us in our aim – to combine the very best medical care for patients with the cost-effectiveness and availability our clients are looking for.”
EAA – named Air Ambulance Provider of the Year for 2016 and shortlisted for the award again this year – is one of the largest specialised air ambulance service providers in Europe, offering worldwide repatriation 24/7/365.
